Contractor/Homeowner Disputes

Whether you have new construction or a remodeling project, issues can arise between a homeowner and a contractor. Mediation is the best way to settle those issues. Mediation allows a homeowner and a contractor a private process to settle disputes while also maintaining a professional relationship. The process is faster and less expensive than taking an issue to court.

Issues can also arise during or after a warranty period. In Summit County in particular, it is not uncommon for a homeowner to have a primary residence somewhere other than Summit County. Litigating an issue it not only expensive due to attorney fees, but may require a homeowner to travel to Summit County or manage litigation from afar. Mediation can be done remotely; offering a quick resolution to allow the repairs, or construction, to continue upon reaching a successful settlement without waiting for a court process to be completed.

People who attempt mediation to efficiently resolve an issue with a contractor or a homeowner have nothing lose; either party may decide to file a claim in court if mediation is unsuccessful.
